Tencent Cloud has announced that more and more companies are turning
to its audio and video solutions for live streaming and related applications.
The company has reported that more than 90% of companies in the video industry in
China now rely on its platform for live broadcasting.
Some of the
virtual events that Tencent Cloud was involved in broadcasting include the 2021
World Rowing Indoor Championships, the United Nations 75th Anniversary, the
127th China Import & Export Fair, as well as Paris Fashion Week.
In South-east
Asia, e-commerce platform Shopee ran live broadcasts for its Q&A sessions and
e-commerce simultaneously on the Tencent Cloud platform. According to Tencent
Cloud, Shopee Live broadcasts — live streams from Shopee merchants — garnered
450 million views during a one-day sale last December.
Another success
story is the broadcast of the Melon Music Awards (MMA) 2020, one of the largest
music events in South Korea. Tencent Cloud, in collaboration with Hyosung ITX,
supported MMA's first fully-digital version and was able to cope with around 2 million
peak concurrent users from around the globe during the event while enabling low
delays and high image quality.
Tencent
Cloud’s audio and video solutions include live video broadcasting, video-on-demand,
as well as Tencent Real-Time Communication (TRTC) for live streaming and multi-person
audio/video calls. The company also offers a user-generated short video software
development kit to enable creative short videos for social media, short video
news, and gaming, among other use cases.
Poshu
Yeung, Senior Vice President of Tencent Cloud International, said: "Organisations
and corporates constantly face challenges such as technological barriers,
network traffic bust, global availability zone coverage, customisation and
maintenance cost in their livestreaming and broadcasts, which have now become
an essential part of their business.
“With our
range of industry's leading live audio and video solutions, Tencent Cloud is
committed to being their trusted partner through our experience, expertise and
innovative solutions, and will continue to deliver for them high-performance,
stable and reliable live broadcasting services."
