5G is changing the way we communicate and has challenging demands — it introduces a paradigm shift towards user and application focused technology frameworks to flexibly support three important use case families, namely Enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), Massive machine type communications (mMTC), and Ultra-reliable, low latency communications (URLLC).
In order to simplify device testing, Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) has launched the new R&S CMX500 one-box tester, a powerful 5G test platform that provides extensive device testing capability, including support for all 5G NR deployments covering LTE, 5G NR FR1 and FR2 in non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) mode, for both FDD and TDD with an effortless setup and an outstanding performance.
Manufacturers of cutting-edge 5G NR-capable chipsets and devices as well as certification providers can cover the entire product lifecycle with the R&S CMX500 one-box tester, from all early R&D design phases to end-to-end application testing, including device certification.
While other end-to-end testing setups consist of several external components, R&S revolutionises this setup with its single-box CMX500. To create a consolidated solution, the entire data servers and tools were moved into the tester, offering a unique integrated solution for application testing. All tests and measurements can be carried out manually in the graphical user interface R&S CMsquares; they can be built as test sequences in the integrated Sequencer tool or remotely controlled via XLAPI and SCPI interfaces.
The R&S CMX500 supports both 5G stand-alone and non-stand-alone modes, is capable of large variety of present and future LTE and 5G 3GPP band combinations, and has a future-proof modular and scalable HW-architecture.
