Cobalt Digital, a leading provider of broadcast and professional audio-video equipment, unveiled its latest products at the BroadcastAsia Show 2023 held in Singapore. With a strong focus on the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the company showcased a range of innovative solutions designed to enhance broadcasting capabilities.
During an interview with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+, Peng Sang Tan, the Senior Director for APAC at Cobalt Digital, and Suzana Brady, the Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing globally and chairwoman for the RIST forum, provided insights into the products and their significance.
The company’s offerings included traditional products such as embedders and de-embedders, DAs (distribution amplifiers), up-converters, down-converters, and routers based on the openGear architecture. Additionally, Cobalt Digital featured several new products, including the Sapphire product family of converters, which enable the conversion of ST2110-22 and JPEG-XS into HDMI or SDI formats.
“We also have the mini converters that are perfect for behind the monitor mounting. We are also launching the new WAVE router, our products are named after shades of blue. So we have WAVE, we have Sapphire, we have the new Ultra Blue multiviewer. That’s coming up,” said Suzana Brady.
The company’s emphasis on blue-themed product names, reflecting their corporate branding, added an element of excitement to their showcase. Among the notable products were an eight-channel OpenGear card capable of converting JPEG-XS to eight independent SDI outputs and the new WAVE router, a 64×64 SDI router. Cobalt Digital also introduced a new IP multiviewer.
Addressing the specific needs of the Asia Pacific region, Peng Sang Tan highlighted the RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport) based encoder and decoder. This product leverages the open internet to transmit content, ensuring reliable and high-quality delivery even in areas with high internet traffic.
Tan stated, “In Asia, as we know, the internet is very, very susceptible to high traffic at times. And this product actually can help you to deliver your content reliably, with high end high quality.”
Regarding visitor turnout, Suzana Brady expressed delight with the show’s attendance. “We’re seeing partners and customers from literally everywhere in the region,” she said. The decision to have their own booth space this year proved fruitful, as Cobalt Digital had a significant presence and attracted a diverse range of partners and customers.
The BroadcastAsia Show 2023 provided an ideal platform for Cobalt Digital to showcase their latest products to industry professionals and enthusiasts alike. With their innovative solutions and commitment to meeting the unique requirements of the Asia Pacific market, the company continues to establish itself as a leading provider in the broadcast technology sector.
