Atomos introducing Swift ‘Lens to Likes’ Tech at IBC 2023

At this year’s International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, tech leader Atomos launched four innovative products running on their new OS 11 operating system, designed to redefine content creation workflows.

Paul Scurrell, Senior Vice-President of Products at Atomos, shared with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ the recent achievements of the company. “We’re so excited to be back at IBC this year, we’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to launch four new products in the last few weeks,” Scurrell said.

Specifically, Atomos introduced the Shogun and Shogun Ultra at the show, following the debut of the Ninja and Ninja Ultra just two to three weeks prior. All these products now operate on Atomos’ new OS 11 system, boasting a revamped user interface, enhanced features for offline and online workflows, and promising streamlined user experiences.

The newly released products are categorized into two distinct series for user convenience. “What we’ve done with these products, we’ve aligned them, so it’s very easy for the customer to understand which products are suitable for them,” explained Scurrell.

The Ninja series introduces a five-inch HDR monitor recorder, while the Shogun series presents a seven-inch 2000 nits HDR monitor recorder. Notably, the Shogun series integrates comprehensive network connectivity, facilitating direct connections to Atomos Cloud Studio, Atomos’ premier cloud service.

Furthermore, these advanced tools provide extensive connectivity features, from best of breed Wi-Fi to long-range wireless sync named AirGlu. The five-inch screen of the Ninja series can also be transformed into a connected device with an optional expansion module dubbed Atomos Connect.

By incorporating these innovative features, both products offer creators an ecosystem connected to the cloud and various destinations. They can directly stream content from the device to social platforms or achieve a seamless camera-to-cloud transfer. Among the supported cloud platforms, the devices can integrate with Frame.io and Sony Ci media. Another significant addition is the Atomos Edit, a new editing platform by Atomos. This platform ensures a rapid transfer of content directly from the device to the cloud, courtesy of Atomos’ progressive upload technology, and then onto shared timelines, enabling collaborative editing before publishing on social media or into a professional Non-Linear Editing system (NLE).

“We call it ‘Lens to Likes’ because it’s like you’re literally going from the lens to a social platform as quick as possible,” Scurrell highlighted. With the rapid advancements showcased by Atomos at IBC 2023, it’s evident that the future of content creation promises speed, efficiency, and connectivity like never before.
