Appear at IBC 2023: High Density Solution Revolutionizing Media Delivery

Appear’s CEO, Thomas Bostrom Jorgensen, shared insights about the company’s groundbreaking media solutions at this year’s IBC Show, noting a remarkable increase in visitor engagement and interest in their offerings. Appear’s X Platform, a high-density solution for compression and media delivery, stole the limelight due to its spatial density and power efficiency capabilities, setting it apart in the live event contribution market.

IBC, which stands as a significant event in the European broadcasting calendar, saw Appear welcoming more visitors to their stall than ever before. Jorgensen beamed with satisfaction, saying, “IBC has been absolutely brilliant. We have had much more visitors than we’ve ever had at the stand with a lot of leads and a lot of activities. We’re super happy with that.”

While Appear enjoys a rich history in the European market with a plethora of existing clients, this year’s exhibition attracted numerous new customers, a testament to the company’s growing foothold. This growth is attributed to Appear’s intensified efforts in the live event contribution market over recent years.

Jorgensen highlighted the unique selling points of their main product showcased at IBC, the X Platform. This platform boasts of superior performance, offering a spatial density unparalleled in the industry. “Appear’s platform 2RU units can compress 96 HD channels. Other vendors, especially the server-based ones, deliver using multiple racks. Our spatial density appeals immensely to large content owners, production companies, and any business involved in live event contribution,” Jorgensen elaborated.

The market is brimming with companies proffering similar products, but Appear’s offering is a cut above the rest. Their distinct advantage lies in the spatial density and power efficiency of their solutions. Jorgensen confidently stated, “There is no one in the market that can really compete with us in terms of packing space. Our solution typically uses five times less power than any of the competing vendors. That’s a significant saving.”

Another feather in Appear’s cap unveiled at IBC is their hardware-accelerated SRT solution, geared for the transmission of video over unmanaged networks. SRT has had its challenges, primarily with capacity and the number of connections. However, Appear has tackled this by implementing accelerated SRT in an FPGA. “In a 2RU chassis, our solution can deliver 72 gigabits of SRP traffic and over 1500 connections. It’s tremendous,” Jorgensen enthused.

Appear’s advancements, particularly in the realm of media delivery, reinforce the company’s commitment to offering unparalleled solutions, saving both space and power, much to the delight of industry professionals. Their standout presence at IBC 2023 further cements their position as leaders in the broadcasting and media delivery space.
