EVS Highlights Breakthrough Tech at IBC 2023

The International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2023 witnessed a significant rebound in attendance figures akin to the pre-COVID era. Paul Maroni, the Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific at EVS, in a recent interaction, expressed his pleasure over this year’s turnout.

“We’re very pleased with the turnout this year,” said Maroni during an interview with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+. “The pre-COVID numbers are all back, and there’s been a lot of buzz.”

One of the main attractions Maroni highlighted was the company’s latest offering, the Cerebrum product. This innovative system provides monitoring and control for broadcasting. A key aspect of Cerebrum is its role in aiding media infrastructure transition to Internet Protocol (IP). With the evolving broadcasting space moving towards IP, many find themselves in need of assistance for a smooth transition. The Cerebrum product appears to fill that void.

“With people moving towards IP, there is a need for some assistance to get into that space,” Maroni explained. “With Cerebrum, it makes that transition to IP easier. What’s unique is that you can truly have a control system that manages your legacy equipment while also introducing IP at a pace comfortable for you.”

But EVS didn’t stop at the Cerebrum. They also showcased advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) through their server-based products. A notable revelation was the XtraMotion product, which achieves super slow motion without necessitating the use of dedicated super slow-motion cameras. This technological leap offers enhanced viewing experiences, especially beneficial for sportscasters.

Furthermore, Maroni introduced an AI-based player-tracking system. This system intuitively identifies exciting moments during a game and subsequently tracks that action, a feature primarily directed at sportscasters. When queried about their clientele, Maroni commented, “All our regular customers are here, and there’s a continual upgrade path for our tier-one customers that we look after.”

For many attending IBC 2023, this combination of legacy equipment integration and the introduction of AI advancements underscores EVS’s commitment to both innovation and the needs of their customers. As the broadcasting landscape continues to evolve, tools like the Cerebrum product may play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless transitions and enhanced viewer experiences.
