It has over 1,000 media firms and 400 technology partners in its global network.
With the growing broadcast industry across the globe, technology outfit Zixi has established itself as the leader of the market as it continually demonstrated its commitment to enabling seamless content transport and processing through its game-changing and innovative solutions.
On the sidelines of the recently concluded International Broadcasting Convention or IBC 2023 in Amsterdam, Harjinder Sandu, Director of Marketing at Zixi, said the company has been perfecting live video over IP networks, especially across unpredictable and unreliable public networks at scale.
For the past 15 years, through its broad range of products and features, Zixi has catered to content creators, broadcasters, and service providers who need to transport and process content from one location to another.
“Zixi is uniquely positioned to serve this growing market as more and more broadcasters and service providers are looking for professional ways to deliver live content reliable over lossy public networks,” Sandu said.
During the four-day event held at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre, where it kicks off as the title sponsor of the distinguished Devoncroft Summit, Zixi showcased its solutions that were established in its 15 years of service.
With a rich history of innovation, Zixi has demonstrated features and functions that enable content creators and distributors to effortlessly reach worldwide—from expanding its offerings into live events management to the release of its software’s latest version, among others.
Live events management through ZaaS
To serve the growing needs of the industry, Zixi entered into live events management, offering the platform as Software as a service (SaaS) under the brand name “Zixi as a Service” or “ZaaS.”
ZaaS provides broadcast infrastructure as a service which enables media companies and service providers to quickly leverage SaaS to ingest and distribute live video over any IP with ultra-low latency with all the features and functionality of its Software-Defined Video Platform (SDVP).
It also allows media and entertainment companies to easily extend existing on-premises infrastructures and capabilities to the cloud, delivering broadcast-quality video while also being able to orchestrate, manage and monitor complex workflows from anywhere using the ZEN Master control plane.
Service broadcasters can easily scale to add new partners, leveraging ZaaS for cloud video processing as well as the additional data, analytics, security and Quality of Service that consumers mandate.
Enhanced efficiency, cost savings with Zixi v17
Zixi demonstrated its compute and bandwidth efficiencies as part of the v17 release of its software which significantly reduces operational costs.
According to Zixi, the improved processing capacity of Zixi Broadcaster v17 has required 80% less compute all while reducing egress costs by up to 50%. This is compared to other industry solutions, empowering organizations to maximize their resources, minimize expenses, and deliver high-quality video content reliably.
Zixi displayed the version’s ability to run on ARM Processors, including AWS Graviton 2/3, which are 50% of the cost and energy consumption of x86, with a profound impact on the TCO of video streaming implementations. This eliminates the need for excessive virtual machines, leading to reduced infrastructure requirements and substantial cost savings.
TAG Multiviewer integration
In addition, Zixi also launched its latest integration with TAG Multiviewer to facilitate mosaic generation and monitoring directly from its ZEN Master control and orchestration software.
This solution was also featured during the IBC 2023 where users can utilize a single control plane ZEN Master to feed sources into the TAG MV layouts and send those mosaics to desired targets enabling unified control and simplifying operations.
Partnerships and solutions
As part of the Intelligent Data Platform (IDP), Zixi demonstrated groundbreaking broadcast automation developments powered by advanced AI and ML analytics that enable features such as Auto Incidents utilizing Multi-Object-Correlation-Analysis (MOCA) which cuts through the noise and quickly performs root cause analysis (RCA) for quick resolution of issues.
Also highlighted during the event was Zixi’s partnership with AWS, including integration of its SDVP in AWS Wavelength Zones, allowing customers to leverage the power of 5G and enable widescale adoption of low latency 5G MEC architecture.
Market dominance
Zixi has been true to its commitment to enable broadcast quality live video delivery over any IP network, and over the years, it solidified its position as the leader of the industry.
“Zixi has established itself as the market leader when it comes to delivering live video over IP at scale. It has developed the toolset and expertise required to deploy these complex systems quickly and efficiently,” Sandu said.
“When paired with the efficiencies and cost savings of bandwidth optimization and compute resources, Zixi stands as a distant first,” he added.
To date, Zixi’s SDVP ecosystem has over a thousand media organizations and more than 400 technology partners globally, making the Zixi Enabled Network the largest in the world to deliver live video.
The future of live video transport
As the landscape of broadcasting and content delivery evolves, satellite bandwidth is becoming increasingly scarce, with allocations shifting towards the cellular 5G spectrum.
In line with this, Sandu believes that IP-based solutions will be a preferred option for transporting live video content across the world, making Zixi the frontrunner in the industry.
