Harmonic will be making waves at NAB 2024 with the introduction of its latest cloud and software-based appliance solutions, aimed at reshaping the landscape of video streaming and broadcast delivery. The company emphasises Artificial Intelligence-powered innovations across a range of applications, including live sports streaming, targeted advertising, production workflows, and broadcast distribution.
For instance, Harmonic’s VOS360 Ad software-as-a-service (SaaS) boasts new capabilities including support for innovative in-stream addressable ad formats. This translates to fresh advertising opportunities, personalised ads for individual viewers, server-side ad insertion at scale, dynamic in-scene advertising, and stoppable ad functionality.
For enhanced live sports streaming, the VOS360 Media SaaS ensures scalability, reliability, and low latency, ensuring an immersive viewing experience with top-notch video quality and watermarking protection.
In the realm of production and layout, Harmonic’s Spectrum X media server, XOS media processor, and VOS360 Media SaaS bring about notable enhancements, including support for various production workflows and personalised linear channel origination.
Harmonic will also showcase its AI-based PURE compression engine that now supports Versatile Video Coding (VVC), offering up to 40% bandwidth savings compared to HEVC/H.265. Additionally, XOS media processor delivers both ISDB-Tb and ATSC 3.0 signals from a single chassis, optimising broadcast distribution efficiency.
Harmonic has also formed strategic partnerships with several partners, including ContentWise, Camp.ai, Leaner, and Kebula to focus on automated channel scheduling and ad break insertion. A partnership with Southworks also enhances monetisation and fan engagement through personalised live sports streaming.
Harmonic will be exhibiting at booth W2831 during NAB 2024, which is taking place from April 13-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
