Lawo empowers Voice of Vietnam to deliver quality content to listeners

Voice of Vietnam (VOV), one of South-east Asia’s most advanced state broadcasters, has successfully completed the second phase of its traffic radio project, at two key locations, Hanoi and Danang, with audio solutions by Lawo.
Voice of Vietnam, established in 1945, is Vietnam’s national broadcaster and one of the oldest in South-east Asia. Lawo is a global technology partner with a long history of delivering innovative solutions for live media production workflows. Broadcast Communications International (BCI), the system integrator for this project, is a leading provider of broadcast solutions in South-east Asia.
In 2020-21, during the first phase of the project, VOV upgraded its facilities with two Lawo ruby and two crystal radio broadcast consoles. Building on that success, the completed second phase saw the installation of three of Lawo’s newly launched diamond consoles, three additional new crystal consoles, and two pairs of redundant Power Core routing devices.
The integration of Lawo’s advanced solutions into VOV’s workflows has been transformative, reported Lawo. The diamond console, with its IP-native design, is tailored for modern broadcast environments, offering integration with VOV’s RAVENNA/ AES67 network.
Its highly customisable control surface allows VOV’s operators to configure the system according to the unique needs of each studio, providing unmatched operational flexibility and scalability for future expansions.
The crystal consoles, with their compact and efficient design, deliver reliable, high-quality performance, making them ideal for handling daily broadcast tasks efficiently. They streamline operations while offering a user-friendly interface that ensures ease of use for both novices and experienced engineers.
At the heart of the broadcast system are a RAVENNA audio-over-IP (AoIP) network and the robust Power Core routing devices, which manage the complex routing requirements of VOV’s network. These devices, fully compatible with RAVENNA/ AES67 standards, offer high-channel capacity and flexible I/O options, ensuring uninterrupted routing of audio signals.
The deployment of redundant Power Core systems provides increased resilience, allowing VOV to maintain uninterrupted broadcast services, even in the event of hardware failures, ensuring high availability and reliability.
A Voice of Vietnam spokesperson said, “The expansion of Voice of Vietnam’s broadcast infrastructure marks an important step in our ongoing efforts to modernise and streamline our operations.
“Lawo’s solutions provide us with the flexibility and reliability we need to deliver high-quality content to our listeners, both in Vietnam and internationally.”
