Nevion expands SDN media fabric portfolio with high-capacity 400G switch

Nevion, a Sony Group company, has unveiled the latest addition to its software-defined network (SDN) media fabric portfolio: the Nevion eMerge 400G. Designed as a spine router for broadcast facilities or a central router for outside broadcast (OB) trucks, the new switch enhances Nevion’s existing lineup, which includes 1G, 10G, 25G, and 100G eMerge switches.

A key component of Sony’s Networked Live offerings, the eMerge SDN media fabric consists of high-capacity IP switches specifically engineered to meet broadcast requirements for both local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). These switches are pre-integrated with Nevion’s VideoIPath media orchestration platform, offering advanced functionalities such as flexible programming of network address translation (NAT) rules.

This level of control enables broadcasters to manage media flows with greater precision. Furthermore, eMerge is fully interoperable with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) IP switches available on the market.

The latest 1RU eMerge 400G switch delivers 32x400G ports, providing a total capacity of 25.6 terabits per second (Tbps). Additionally, Nevion has introduced a 64x100G eMerge switch with a 12.8 Tbps capacity, expanding its 100G offerings alongside the existing 32x100G eMerge model.

Cezary Cieslewski, Product Manager, eMerge, Nevion, said, “The demand for our eMerge switches has grown dramatically in recent years, as has the network capacity our customers have been asking us to tackle. Adding a 400G switch to our offering is addressing those requirements, whether it’s in the facilities or OB trucks.”

The new eMerge switches will be showcased at NAB 2025, which is taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre from April 5-9. Nevion will at booth N439, within Sony’s Networked Live area.
