BCNEXXT’s Vipe sets new benchmark for agile, cost-efficient playout

At IBC 2025, BCNEXXT will unveil the latest release of its Vipe playout platform, offering broadcasters and media companies a smarter alternative to rigid, over-provisioned infrastructure.

Vipe replaces traditional one-to-one channel-server models with a fully adaptive architecture that automatically scales resources — CPU or GPU — based on the complexity of each scheduled event. Using machine learning, Vipe analyses upcoming content and applies resource labels in advance, triggering the on-demand deployment of containerised microservices.

With this approach, there is no need to build infrastructure out to meet peak demand, said BCNEXXT.

Graham Sharp, Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing, BCNEXXT, added, “This isn’t just about particular playout features. Vipe is shifting how playout is deployed and managed. It is removing the handcuffs on scalability.

“We’re transforming budgets from high fixed costs to more cost-efficient and manageable variable ones. It’s the adaptability and efficiency broadcasters have been looking for.”

With its “only pay for what you play” model, Vipe reduces operational overhead and hardware requirements. Complex graphics and DVE effects are routed to GPU instances, while simpler events such as static branding are processed via CPU. This intelligent, adaptive distribution of compute power dramatically improves efficiency while maintaining broadcast-grade quality.

Vipe’s UI automatically adjusts to schedules. When live events are detected, Vipe automatically displays the relevant controls, such as live feed monitoring and branding windows, only for the duration needed. Once the schedule returns to file-based content, the UI automatically adjusts, minimising workflow friction and operator burden.

Vipe enables smarter scheduling and staffing models. File-based content can be pre-assembled and quality-checked ahead of airtime during office hours, reducing pressure on playout teams. Pre-configured channel templates and rules facilitate much of the operational complexity automatically.

For broadcasters, the benefits are immediate – fewer servers, leaner teams, lower costs, and reduced risk. From a pop-up free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel to preparing for a live sports broadcast, Vipe adapts in real time, delivering the resilience and responsiveness modern media operations demand.

“Vipe brings the highest level of automation and adaptability in the market,” added Sharp. “It’s built for how broadcasters need to work now, fast, flexible, and without compromise.”

With growing industry momentum, Vipe is proving how intelligent automation and adaptive, event-based scaling can transform playout into a more responsive, cost-effective and operator-friendly experience.See Vipe by BCNEXXT in action at stand 3.B45 during IBC 2025, which is taking place from September 12-25 at the RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre.
