Teradek introduces Prism Jetpack to power next-gen live field production

Teradek has launched Prism Jetpack, a new 5G-powered video contribution system aimed at redefining live field production for broadcasts, sports networks, and event producers. Combining high-performance connectivity, studio-grade monitoring, and rugged field-ready design, the system positions itself as a new category of mobile contribution tool for mission-critical live coverage.

At its core, Prism Jetpack features an advanced 5G architecture with eight internal modems and a custom antenna array, supporting up to 10 simultaneous network connections, including Starlink. This ensures connectivity in both urban and remote locations, which is an increasingly critical requirement for news crews and live event teams.

The system supports 4K60, 10-bit high dynamic range (HDR) video, and up to 16 channels of audio, bringing broadcast-grade performance to the field.

Power management is designed with extended production in mind. Prism Jetpack includes a three-hour internal battery and is compatible with Gold or V-mount batteries for hot-swappable operation. Flexible SDI and HDMI I/O options, alongside forthcoming support for Quad-SDI REMI workflows, make the system adaptable for single- and multi-camera productions.

A standout feature is the integrated seven-inch SmallHD production monitor, which is both detachable and configurable. It can be mounted on a camera or positioned separately for field review, with a 1,200-nit daylight-viewable screen, built-in sunshade, and controls optimised for gloved use. Professional imaging tools such as waveform, peaking, zebra, and histogram further enhance its utility for production crews.

Recognising the physical demands of field work, Teradek partnered with Lowepro to design a custom ergonomic backpack. The pack features weather protection, dedicated compartments for accessories, and all-day comfort, reinforcing Jetpack’s positioning as a tool built for real-world production environments.
