Founded by CEO & Executive Producer Suzanne Ryan in 2000, Australia’s SLR Productions is an Emmy and multi-winner company that has spent the last 25 years creating world-class entertainment for children and families.

As the company celebrates its silver anniversary this year, there have been many defining moments that have represented important milestones in SLR’s journey. For Suzanne however, one moment stood out as a “game changer”, as she told APB+, “Winning our first international award, a Daytime Emmy for I Got a Rocket! was one of the earliest signals that Australian children’s content could sit proudly on the world stage.

“That show was a fantastic co-production with Splash Entertainment in the USA, Germany’s KiKA, and Australia’s Network Ten, and it represents the global collaboration that’s been core to our model from the start.”

The success of I Got a Rocket! proved to be the springboard for a string of successful global franchises, including Space Nova, and Alice-Miranda, and Guess How Much I Love You – The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare.

The latter is now broadcast in over 160 countries as a global franchise spanning across television, streaming platforms, a YouTube channel, consumer products, and a theatrical release.

“These productions have shown that we can create meaningful IP that connects with audiences across generations and platforms,” said Suzanne.

While acknowledging the key support from partners like ABC and Nine Network who have helped shape SLR’s creative vision over the years, she was also quick to pay tribute to the SLR team.

“From our exceptional in-house crew to the talented writers, directors, producers, designers and partners who’ve collaborated with us, their creativity and commitment have shaped SLR’s voice and values.  Every project has challenged us to grow, take risks and adapt.  It’s those collective leaps that define our evolution.”

“We’re also evolving our approach to distribution and engagement.  That includes embracing digital first strategies, growing our licensing and consumer products business, and building projects that resonate across both traditional and emerging platforms.”

Recognising that the children’s and family entertainment space is evolving rapidly, Suzanne and her team at SLR continue to be energised by what is coming next. “We’re committed to staying agile, values driven, and creatively fearless, just as we’ve been from day one,” she concluded.
