Cheong Yew Jin joins R&S as director of broadcast and media

Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) has appointed Cheong Yew Jin as its director of broadcast and media.

In his new role, Cheong will focus on driving R&S’ business areas in file-based media, encoding and multiplexing, as well as monitoring and multiviewer solutions in Asia-Pacific.

Prior to joining R&S, Cheong spent 16 years with Avid, covering a spectrum of roles including business development, pre-sales, sales, professional services, solutions development and product marketing.

During his tenure with Avid, he held various leadership positions, including the role of country manager for South-east Asia in 2013, and director of pre-sales for Asia-Pacific.

Stephan Krafft, vice-president of marketing and technical sales, Rohde & Schwarz, concluded: “We need to forge strong technology partnerships with our customers in order to help solve their business and operational challenges, especially in the areas of 4K/Ultra HD (UHD), high dynamic range (HDR), video over IP, and over-the-top (OTT).
