Headquartered in Doha, Ooredoo delivers mobile, fixed, broadband internet and corporate managed services tailored to the needs of 130 million customers across markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.

When the international communications company decided to improve Ooredoo TV, which offers live TV, on-demand content libraries and apps, delivered via the company’s fibre network and in-home Wi-Fi to multiple screens, a new converged headend was chosen.

Powered by Ateme’s high video quality, high-density software encoders, the new converged headend offers Ooredoo an all-in-one solution for its current IPTV infrastructure and its plans to migrate services to pure over-the-top (OTT) for its lineup of 450 linear channels and 1000+ hours of offline content.

Saoud Al-Shammeri, Assistant Director TV & Multimedia at Ooredoo Qatar, explained, “We wanted a solution that would meet today’s streaming requirements, while also being ready for the future.

“Ateme’s converged headend, with its high-density TITAN encoders, fit our vision perfectly. It enabled us to optimise our datacenter costs by having a dense solution without any compromise on quality, while also providing an agile and flexible solution to reach more customers on the devices of their choice today and tomorrow.”With a focus on innovation and standardisation, Ateme ensures its solutions enable customers such as Ooredoo to achieve high video quality at low latency, while its business model provides a flexible expansion to meet increased demand in the years ahead.
