Ateme’s TITAN helps Hubei TV to optimise functions & save cost

Faced with the daily challenge of managing a variety of signals from numerous studios, China’s Hubei TVB decided to choose Ateme’s TITAN encoding and transcoding solutions for its Master Control Room (MCR) resource pool project.

With Ateme, Hubei TV is now able to support efficient encoding and transcoding of 4K and HD channels into different bitrates for diverse destinations.

Beyond any-input and any-output flexibility, the MCR resource pool also introduces a flexible hardware allocation model, ensuring optimised functionality and significant cost savings for Hubei TV station. This innovative approach allows the station to allocate licenses to different hardware resources in various locations, eliminating the need for constant server transportation, thereby reducing operational costs.

Xiao Zhang, Sales Director at Ateme, said, “The last few years have been tough for the broadcast industry. Competition is intensifying and it’s essential to have lean operations.

“We are excited to support Hubei in implementing its innovative MCR resource pool, addressing the dynamic needs of the broadcast industry.”

And in Japan, Ateme’s TITAN range of video transcoders are now compliant with the Japanese standards defined by the Association of Radio Industries and Business (ARIB), a standardisation body that aims to enhance the broadcasting experience with digital technologies.

This, said Ateme, makes TITAN transcoders suitable for Japanese broadcasters seeking to offer a superior quality of experience and more efficient, sustainable video services across any platform.

The ARIB standard is now enabled by Ateme’s TITAN solutions, thanks to their compliance with ARIB transmission, coding, subtitling, and dynamic mode change standards STD-B24, B32, B37, and B39.

Gautier Vandomme, VP APAC at Ateme, said, “Japanese viewers are extremely sophisticated and expect the best experiences. While large broadcasters remain very popular in the country, many are looking to adapt to changing expectations.

“Ateme has already been at the forefront of the transition to IP-based standards in other countries. We are thrilled to be able to help Japanese broadcasters in their quest for greater efficiency and innovative offerings.”
