Atomos supports C2C workflows at Sundance Film Festival 2023

The Sundance Film Festival 2023, which took place from January 19-29 in-person and online, deployed a Camera-to-Cloud (C2C) workflow to produce the Festival Daily Recap and videos distributed in theatres and across its social media platforms.

This was supported by Atomos with onboard monitoring and recording using the Ninja V recording monitor and Atomos Connect adaptor. Capturing special Festival moments that play at screening venues and social channels the next morning was a complex task that required 13 camera crews, each with a producer and camera operator.

All the crews used a combination of wired connectivity where available, and Wi-Fi over a bonded cellular network. Atomos equipment was used with Adobe’s C2C workflow, powered by Frame.io, which created efficiencies in the post-production process, allowing for edits to commence earlier than at previous festivals.

Trevor Elbourne, CEO of Atomos, said, “Being entrusted by Sundance to make sure that all the content for the in-house productions for the film festival was captured, distributed and shared is a great honour. We’re excited that they are adopting a C2C workflow and we’re confident that they will save time and money as a result.

“It was an excellent example of cloud-based, collaborative workflows finding their place in production. It validates our strategy of using online services to augment the capabilities of our products in the field to empower filmmakers with more creative tools.”
