Caton Technology Introduces Innovative Caton Media XStream Service at BroadcastAsia Show 2023

The Caton Media XStream service is built on the Caton Cloud, a global cloud platform specifically designed for the reliable delivery of high-quality content over the public internet. With hundreds of cloud deployments strategically positioned worldwide, the platform offers efficient and fast content delivery.

“We have deployed a global cloud platform with hundreds of clouds around the world, and every pop is designed is very nimble. And small, is purposely built for very efficient, and high quality, very fast delivery of content throughout the internet,” explained Michael Yang, Sr. Vice President of Corporate Development at Caton Technology.

Utilizing AI-based smart routing algorithms, the Caton Media XStream service ensures seamless content delivery by continuously monitoring link performance. If any degradation is detected, the service automatically switches to the next best available route, guaranteeing uninterrupted traffic flow. This advanced technology allows Caton Technology to achieve an industry-leading Service Level Agreement (SLA) of six nines, or 99.9999% reliability.

Caton Technology aims to target the broadcast and sports segments, as well as the media and entertainment industry, with its Caton Media XStream service. By offering ultra-low latency and exceptional reliability, the company seeks to address the evolving needs of broadcasters and content providers in an increasingly digital landscape.

During the interview, Michael Yang provided a visualization of the system. The diagram showcased multiple points of presence (POPs) around the world, each connected through the public internet. The live stream demonstration from Singapore to Oregon in the United States displayed a one-way delay of less than 100 milliseconds, highlighting the ultra-low latency capabilities of the Caton Media XStream service.

“These paths are selected by our AI algorithms, and if anything happens, the path will switch. So the traffic never stops. That’s how we can achieve that kind of ultimate reliability,” Yang further explained.
