Chyron partners with VICTORY+ to revolutionise live graphics

Chyron has announced its partnership with VICTORY+, a new over-the-top (OTT) streaming network providing access to live hockey games and related content. VICTORY+, launched in October 12 by Canadian streaming provider A Parent Media Co. (APMC), delivers game coverage and pre- and post-game shows for fans, starting with the Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks.

The collaboration brings Chyron’s PRIME graphics system to VICTORY+, meeting the platform’s needs for high-quality, professional broadcast visuals with integrated sports data. Despite a tight six-month development timeline for the network, Chyron delivered a complete graphics solution in just three months, including creative services and the implementation of PRIME’s customisable playout capabilities.

Jason Walsh, COO for Sports at APMC, emphasised the importance of a visually compelling debut. “When we decided to create a free, fan-centric experience for Dallas Stars fans, we had to build a complete network from scratch in record time. It was critical to launch our first game showcasing our new brand and make an immediate splash,” Walsh said.

Chyron’s Creative Services team designed a package around the VICTORY+ brand, incorporating game-day elements like a score bug, lower thirds, stats displays, and fan engagement visuals. According to Mark Friedman, Vice-President of Strategic Accounts at Chyron, the package’s flexibility allows for operation with either a traditional bug operator or a single operator using PRIME’s advanced control panels.

“The ease and flexibility of PRIME’s native advanced control panels are key,” Friedman explained. “They allow designers to implement streamlined interfaces that minimise operator errors and maximise speed to air.”

PRIME’s rapid recall and playout capabilities were also crucial to the network’s success. Despite minimal rehearsals, the production crew quickly adapted to the system, with most operators gaining proficiency within an hour of training. “PRIME’s goal is to simplify a complicated process, and this project demonstrated that perfectly,” Friedman noted.

Walsh praised the partnership with Chyron, describing it as a collaborative effort, and concluded, “We had put a ton of faith in Chyron, and they in us, to make this vision a reality. This is a true partnership, and they’ve been there every step of the way, refining the design as we operationalised it.”
