Spring has been a successful and busy time of year for Cobalt Digital and now the leading designer and manufacturer of signal processing products and a founding partner in the openGear initiative is heading to BroadcastAsia 2025 with another three awards earned at NAB 2025.
The company’s new ARIA AUD-MON audio monitor, SAPPHIRE BBG-2110-4Ho/4Sio IPMX converter, and UltraBlue IP-MV multiviewer were all recognised for innovation, and they will be showcased at BroadcastAsia 2025 alongside other solutions from the company’s extensive platform including routers, converters, encoders/decoders, multiviewers, distribution amplifiers, and IP gateways.
The Cobalt team will be at booth 5F1-1 to talk to attendees and show how these flexible, scalable and cost-effective 12G applications, available in a variety of form factors, suit any application.
Cobalt is also excited to share updated descriptions of its comprehensive suite of award-winning products that all answer the challenges 12G presents and are available in a variety of form factors. The innovations include routers, converters, encoders/decoders, multiviewers, distribution amplifiers, and IP gateways, all designed to answer the need for flexible, scalable and cost-effective 12G applications.
Advanced routing solutions
The family of COBALT WAVE high-density routers offer flexibility, ease-of-use and are easily integrated into any variety of applications. The compact, crosspoint routers are contained within a 4U frame, support full-size BNC connectors, are optimised for signals up to 12G-SDI while also accommodating lower SDI rates, ASI, and MADI. Control is accomplished by Cobalt’s growing line of control panels offered in several variations to fit any space and budget.
Versatile conversion tools
COBALT SAPPHIRE converters bring world-class conversion to any application, from broadcast to Pro AV. SAPPHIRE converters are available as openGear cards for racks ensuring space efficiency and seamless operation within existing infrastructures, or as Blue Box Group (BBG) mini converters offering high-quality design, function, and reliability — perfect for on-the-go productions. The converters facilitate HDMI-to-12G-SDI and SDI-to-HDMI conversions.
Innovative and flexible IP multiviewing
COBALT UltraBlue IP-MV multiviewers run on a standard PC platform, feature an intuitive web interface, and are designed to grow with a customer’s needs by incorporating support for compressed and baseband (ST 2110) IP/SDI inputs and outputs. UltraBlue IP-MV can receive audio/video over IP in a variety of protocols and formats with very flexible audio routing. Mosaic configurations are a snap with graphic overlays, ancillary data, and tallies. The intuitive web interface incorporates support for compressed and baseband (ST 2110 and/or SDI) inputs and multiple outputs allowing the multiviewer to grow alongside customers’ needs bringing a multitude of options to suit every application.
Cobalt also offers an openGear option for those that prefer a card-based multiviewer system. The high-density, low-latency COBALT 9971 multiviewer series features a fully flexible design that accommodates 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD-SDI with unprecedented ease-of-setup and ease-of-use. Units are available in either 6 or 18 input models.
IP integration options for processing, encoding, decoding
COBALT INDIGO 2110-DC-01, a factory add-on option for openGear cards, adds native SMPTE 2110 support to audio/video processing elements. INDIGO is now available on numerous Cobalt cards including the popular 9905-MPx and 9904-UDX-4K processing cards, and the PACIFIC 9992-ENC-INDIGO encoder that features four 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD/SD-SDI inputs and outputs, and two 25G SFP28 cages. Availability to this option streamlines IP workflows, reducing the need for multiple devices and simplifies system architecture.
The COBALT PACIFIC ULL-DEC HEVC Upgradeable AVC/MPEG-2 software-defined broadcast decoder is a professional multi-standard decoder designed to meet the most stringent requirements for today’s broadcasters. It supports MPEG-2 and AVC (H.264) (4K support available), as well as offering a full complement of audio decoding capabilities. The PACIFIC ULL-DEC is an industry standard openGear card and provides an ideal platform for transitioning to state-of-the-art decoding capabilities.
Distribution amplifiers — Compact, high-density and sustainable
As demand for 4K continues to rise, distribution of 12G-SDI signals within a rackspace becomes increasingly important. The COBALT ROYAL family of openGear distribution amplifiers feature a space-saving design and low power consumption for a high-density solution. The cards are available in a vast variety of configurations to suit any application.
