EditShare Showcases Global Market-Centric Innovations at IBC 2023

With global interest at an all-time high at this year’s International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, EditShare, a frontrunner in video editing software, presented product updates and market strategies with a keen eye on international needs.

Michael Kammes, Senior Director of Innovation at EditShare, described this year’s IBC as a “fantastic” experience. “We get to see folks from all around the world,” Kammes said during an interview with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+. “When you see folks from all around the world, you see all the needs and wants that each country has. That allows us to better craft our products to serve those individual markets.”

A significant announcement at the convention was the recent merger of EditShare with Shift Media. This merger led to a number of integrated product launches, most notably the integration of Shift Media with the DaVinci Resolve studio panel. Kammes highlighted the functionality of the “MediaSilo live, video, Silo review and approve product” which can now be accessed directly within the DaVinci Resolve studio platform.

Further integrations were unveiled with MASV for File Transfer, alongside partnerships with Telestream’s content agent. “You can transcode, use any of the workflows in content agent and push directly to media silo,” explained Kammes.

But it wasn’t just the merger taking center stage for EditShare. The company introduced EditShare One, aimed at streamlining the user experience across all of EditShare’s products. This major update is designed to offer a “unified experience”, ensuring that “any user at any level can use any of these products and understand exactly how they work,” Kammes remarked.

One of the standout features was the introduction of an NVMe option for EditShare’s EFS storage. This update promises users lower latency and increased throughput, enhancing the overall editing experience.

When asked about the unique selling proposition for EditShare’s products, Kammes emphasized the flexibility of the EFS storage solution. “It gives you a file system that allows you to use just about any creative application with it either on premises or in the cloud,” he said. He further illustrated its versatility by noting its compatibility with applications like Avid Media Composer, negating the need for Avid’s native storage platform.

EditShare’s Flex product, another focal point, facilitates cloud-based editing. Kammes mentioned the ability to swiftly set up workstations for editors, providing them with “powerful graphics cards and fast storage to work with any type of media.”

Concluding the interview, Kammes expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share EditShare’s latest ventures, stating, “Thank you for stopping by.”

The IBC Show in Amsterdam remains a pivotal event for broadcasting professionals, and with companies like EditShare making waves with innovations and mergers, the industry’s trajectory seems promising.
