EMG, renowned for providing global broadcast services for live sports, entertainment, and events, has formally joined forces with Gravity Media, a global provider of live creative production and media services. The merger, outlined in a definitive agreement, positions the newly formed entity to deliver a range of new media services worldwide.
The merger, yet to be named, will boast extensive global capabilities, including over 100 outside broadcast (OB) trucks and flypacks, along with 40 studios and production facilities across Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Australia. With a presence in 30 offices spanning 12 countries, the combined business will house 2,000 employees and tap into a global network of freelance personnel.
Under the leadership of Shaun Gregory, EMG’s current CEO, the new group will operate with him as the Global CEO.
John Newton, Gravity Media’s Founder, CEO and majority shareholder, will take on the role of Executive Chairman.
Both will join the main board, alongside existing EMG shareholders, including PAI Partners, Ackermans & Van Haagen, Watchers & Co, and Banijay.
Newton said, “This combination will allow us to play an increasingly important role for our customers and our people. Together, the group will offer new products, new services, and enter new markets.”
Gregory added, “Our vision is to create a world-class business that sets new industry standards and can seamlessly enter and grow new markets. This is a fantastic opportunity, which in turn gives our customers the best solutions and quality they rightly demand. We’ll be able to invest in global platforms, end-to-end production and, of course, the best people.”
