Vietnam Television (VTV), Vietnam’s national TV broadcaster, has tapped
on GatesAir, a wireless content delivery solution provider for broadcasters,
and Emico, VTV’s channel partner, to expand the broadcaster’s national DVB-T2
network to four new transmission sites across the northern region of the
country.

Emico installed and commissioned Maxiva
ULTX liquid-cooled UHF TV transmitters that is capable of delivering 2.4kW of
digital power. The solid-state Maxiva transmitters will deliver nine VTV
programmes and one local programme, providing clear digital TV service to
previously underserved regions. Technical evaluations from both GatesAir and
Emico confirmed that Maxiva liquid-cooled transmitters will improve operational
efficiency and reduce maintenance costs across the network.

GatesAir won the contract due to its familiarity
with VTV’s needs and track record of system reliability, as well as the
long-term business relationship between GatesAir and Emico.

VTV first installed Maxiva liquid-cooled
transmitters for analog TV in 2009, and has more recently installed
liquid-cooled transmitters for digital TV. All Maxiva transmitters in the
network will share the same hot-swappable power supplies and amplifier modules,
minimising labour and repairs while maximising operational efficiency.

Emico has been the local transmission
partner for VTV since the 1990sand is a long-time GatesAir
customer. In addition to modern high-efficiency GatesAir transmitters, VTV
operates a number of legacy Harris transmitters across Vietnam.
