Grass Valley accelerates integration with SAM products

When completed, this will present the broadcast industry with the “most comprehensive” portfolio of content and media technology

At 2018 NAB Show, Grass Valley will highlight how the recent acquisition of Snell Advanced Media (SAM) by parent company Belden has created a “market-leading supplier” with more resources and technologies that will benefit professionals in embracing the changes occurring throughout the broadcast industry.

Tim Shoulders, president of Grass Valley, explained: “We acquired SAM to create a proven portfolio that helps our customers strengthen their operations. We have no plans to announce any additional acquisitions at the NAB show, or in the near future.

“Our focus right now is to complete our production and solution integration strategy and deliver a superior level of service to our customers. While there has been some speculation about further consolidation in the market, it is currently not a focus for Grass Valley.”

As part of Belden’s acquisition of SAM, the latter’s product portfolio is being integrated into the Grass Valley brand, and at booth SL 106, visitors can check out offerings from both the Grass Valley and SAM portfolios — organised by key application areas: live production, news, content delivery and networking. The booth will also include a dedicated camera stage and a “Discovery Zone” that will feature a series of self-guided virtual tours of technology topics.

Shoulders continued: “Hard work is being done behind the scenes to ensure that our customers get the maximum benefit out of this acquisition as fast as possible. As former SAM products are rebranded as Grass Valley, we are assuring interoperability and extending in-region support for all users.”
