Gyeongnam eSports Arena in S Korea gets advanced Ikegami cameras

The Gyeongnam Culture & Arts Foundation (GCAF) has equipped its newly launched Gyeongnam eSports Arena with four Ikegami UHK-X700 camera systems. Delivered in partnership with Ikegami’s distributor in South Korea, Dong Hwa AV, the advanced camera systems will televise eSports competitions for terrestrial and satellite audiences across South Korea.
As the world’s third-largest eSports market, South Korea has built a strong reputation for supporting the industry through government-backed initiatives, dedicated contests, and purpose-built facilities. GCAF, established in 2013, is instrumental in promoting cultural and artistic endeavours in Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea.
After rigorous testing, GCAF opted for Ikegami’s UHK-X700 cameras due to their ability to capture high-quality, low-noise images in low-light conditions, typical of eSports environments. These cameras offer consistent colour reproduction and versatility, enabling GCAF’s production team to meet the demands of competitive eSports broadcasting.
Ikegami cameras have long been favoured by broadcasters globally for their robust build, image quality, and ease of use. In South Korea, Ikegami serves major terrestrial and satellite broadcasters, with its cameras renowned for performance stability — another factor in GCAF’s purchase.
The UHK-X700 cameras provide flexibility in operating resolutions — 4K/Ultra HD (UHD), 1080p, or 1080i — and support both standard and high dynamic ranges (SDR/HDR) with wide colour gamut options. With a B4 lens mount and advanced features like global shutter CMOS sensors, the cameras are designed for operation across studio and outdoor settings.
Advanced features such as high frame-rate shooting (up to 2x speed in 4K/UHD and 8x speed in HD) and a 12G-SDI feed for wireless integration make the UHK-X700 ideal for fast-paced eSports and other live events.
The cameras also offer mixed-source output in HD SDR and 4K/UHD HDR formats, catering to a variety of production needs.
