Hitachi Kokusai, a Japanese company that has been manufacturing broadcast television cameras for the past 40 years, has unveiled its latest camera technologies at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2023 in Las Vegas. The company's COO, Sean Moran, spoke to Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ about Hitachi Kokusai's history and the features of the two cameras being showcased at the event. "The HTC HD 6500 is a brand new camera that we have developed as a one-piece camera," said Moran. "We were developing world TPS camps before this where we were able to do fibre or trance.
Now we are strictly optical fibre." He added that the 6500 is a 1080P multi-format camera that can output DP 10, di, or 720, depending on the user's selection. "This is the first time it's being exhibited in the world, even though we are also showcasing the SK UHD 7000 s two," said Moran. The SK UHD 7000 was introduced last year as the company's first venture into native 4K cameras. The 7000 s two is a 20P version of that camera that can be upgraded to 4K with a licence. "For those on tight budgets, we are able to sell you the two versions, and anytime down the road, you can purchase the licence and upgrade to 4K," said Moran. Hitachi Kokusai's cameras have a long history in the broadcast industry, with the company's roots going back to the 1960s when it was known as Hitachi Denshi.
In the early 2000s, Kokusai and Denshi merged to form the current company. Moran's appearance at the NAB Show 2023 is just one of the many events and exhibitions that Hitachi Kokusai attends every year to showcase its latest camera technologies. "We are a global company, so we do many shows throughout the world," he said.
