Macau’s TDM begets state-of-the-art playout solution from Harmonic

Macau broadcaster Teledifusão de Macau (TDM) has modernised its media production and playout infrastructure with support from Harmonic.

Harmonic’s Spectrum X Advanced Media Server and MediaGrid shared real-time storage system provide TDM with “unparalleled reliability and scalability” to produce high volumes of content and ensure flawless playout, said the company. The server and storage system transform TDM’s media production and news editing workflows, providing high-capacity storage and the bandwidth needed to support real-time collaboration among dozens of users.

The Spectrum X server simplifies TDM’s production and playout workflow by combining ingest with integrated channel playout capabilities. The software-based server supports a broad range of formats, allowing TDM to deliver content with outstanding video quality.

Migrating TDM’s data to the new storage infrastructure was an interrupted process. Harmonic’s MediaGrid system provides one petabyte of storage capacity to enable efficient real-time editing, ingest, playout and archiving. The MediaGrid system features innovative scaling capabilities, built-in redundancy and integration with industry-standard editing software, offering TDM a cutting-edge solution to meet its evolving media production and playout needs.

Tony Berthaud, Vice-President of Sales, APAC, Harmonic, said, “Harmonic solutions continue to set the video industry benchmark for scalability, flexibility and reliability, helping broadcasters such as Teledifusão de Macau redefine their media workflows.

“We’re excited to support TDM’s evolution to a modern media infrastructure that delivers top-notch reliability required for today’s demanding broadcast operations.”
