Magna enhances BAI’s 24/7 service with Enensys EdgeProbe DVB-T/T2

Australian telecommunications systems company BAI Communications has turned to systems integrator Magna Systems & Engineering to supply the Enensys EdgeProbe Advanced DVB-T/T2 monitoring solution. This is in support of the latest phase of upgrades across BAI’s nationwide broadcast infrastructure.
With its transmission networks spanning 741 sites and reaching 99% of Australians, BAI provides fully managed broadcast services for leading networks including ABC, SBS, and Southern Cross Austereo. With all services monitored 24/7 by BAI’s Service Management Centre, maintaining reliable, high-quality signal delivery is critical.
As part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades, BAI selected the Enensys EdgeProbe solution which is used as an off-air terrestrial COFDM receiver or a transmitter monitoring receiver for their low power (<1kW) Digital TV services.
BAI selected the EdgeProbe based on its robust monitoring capabilities, ease of deployment, and compatibility with existing systems.
Adrian French, Sales Specialist, Magna Systems, explained, “BAI required a monitoring solution that could be deployed easily and reliably across remote sites, with minimal training required.
“Enensys EdgeProbe ticked those boxes and stood out as an almost ‘plug-and-play’ option that integrates seamlessly with their existing Network Management System (NMS), while still offering deep RF and transport stream analysis.”
Integrated with BAI’s existing NMS platform, the EdgeProbe can also be configured to send alarms when issues such as signal loss, corruption, or bitrate irregularities are detected. This enables proactive maintenance and reporting, which helps in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintaining compliance with broadcasting standards.
French continued, “The EdgeProbe units provide BAI with real-time visibility of broadcast signals across their entire network with back haul telemetry to their 24/7 Service Management Centre. This level of insight and control allows for proactive issue detection, streamlined fault diagnosis, and scalable deployment — ideal for a network of this size and complexity.”
With support for both DVB-T and DVB-T2 signals, the Enensys EdgeProbe also offers BAI a future-ready solution as Australia’s broadcast landscape evolves.
“The EdgeProbe’s real-time performance, compact form factor, and flexible configuration options made it the ideal choice. It enables rapid, repeatable deployment across diverse and remote environments, helping companies like BAI maintain service excellence at scale,” French concluded.
