Net Insight’s Nimbra 400 empowers high-quality video transmission

Net Insight has announced a groundbreaking advancement in its Nimbra 400 platform. The new capabilities include multi-channel high-efficiency video coding (HEVC)/H.265 4:2:2 video encoding and decoding, setting a new benchmark for video quality and bandwidth efficiency, said the company.

The Nimbra 400’s enhanced capabilities ensure the delivery of premium video content over managed and unmanaged networks, making it an ideal solution for live event contributions. By leveraging advanced hardware acceleration, the platform supports up to four high-quality HEVC/H.265 4:2:2 video services, ensuring low latency and immersive video feeds from remote locations to production centres.

With its HEVC/H.265 compression, the Nimbra 400 significantly reduces bandwidth costs per channel. This enables broadcasters to increase their camera views, deliver more immersive programming, and cover events that were previously economically unviable. As a result, broadcasters can generate new revenue streams and provide a more engaging viewing experience for their audiences.

The Nimbra 400 integrates with Net Insight’s Nimbra Edge and Connect iT media transport platforms, providing video connections from the network edge. Video services can be delivered over unmanaged IP networks. At the same time, the entire operation can be managed from a central location anywhere in the world, ensuring flexibility and reliability for live event production.

Christer Bohm, Vice-President of Product Management at Net Insight, commented, “The Nimbra 400’s HEVC/H.265 4:2:2 capabilities provide video quality and efficiency that enable broadcasters to deliver more engaging content while significantly reducing costs.

“This underscores our commitment to supporting our customers with leading-edge solutions that drive their success.” Net Insight will showcase the new Nimbra 400 capabilities at booth 1.C48 during IBC2024, which is taking place from September 13-16 at the Amsterdam RAI convention centre.
