The NAB Show 2023 in Las Vegas saw the convergence of the biggest names in broadcasting and media companies from all over the world. Amongst the attendees was Sanjay Duda, CEO of Planetcast, who shared his insights about the show. According to Duda, three trends dominated the show: Cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and remote production. "The cloud is definitely more ingrained in workflows and processes.
AI and machine learning are being looked at more seriously with more applications. And remote production solutions on the cloud are also showing up more now," he explained. Duda also highlighted the prevalence of IP (Internet Protocol), which he said encompasses everything. "Next year at NAB, there will be even more remote production technologies and solutions on the cloud," he added. Planetcast showcased its cloud products, including Cloud Payout and Cloud.X, and highlighted the recent acquisition of Desynova, a company that provides content management solutions on the cloud.
"This nicely complements our cloud so it becomes a solution for broadcasters and publishers," Duda said. The company is also looking to add delivery and consumption to its end-to-end solution with its cloud delivery product. "We're just building further on it. And at the other end is the OTT. We are looking at various potential M&E opportunities to see if we can add that and then we will be in a position to completely cover the entire ecosystem for any customer that comes to us," Duda explained.
Planetcast's Contido, a content management solution, and Cloud.X, the world's best playout, were amongst the products showcased at the event. Contido provides content management to over 20 channels in six different languages and regions. It can edit text content, do subtitling, manage localisation, and move content. Cloud.X, on the other hand, has been used by large broadcasters like Disney, Star, and Viacom, as well as smaller broadcasters with demanding workflows. Overall, NAB Show 2023 was a showcase of the latest innovations and trends in broadcasting and media technology. As Duda put it, "There was a lot to see here," and the event proved to be an exciting opportunity for industry leaders to connect, collaborate, and learn from each other.
