Riedel backs Slush with comms support

Hytera digital mobile radio, headsets, repeater from Riedel Communications were all deployed at the annual Slush conference

Riedel Communications has provided its radio communications infrastructure to the 10th annual Slush conference, which took place last year from Nov 30-Dec 1 in Helsinki, Finland.

Slush brings together the global business startup community, drawing almost 20,000 attendees from the global tech scene for two days of presentations, competitions and mentoring activities.

Mafer Morante, producer of Slush, explained: “From the first Slush in 2008, our mission has been the same: Help the next generation of founders move forward.

“An event as complex as Slush naturally has crew communications challenges, and we could not have pulled it off without the support of Riedel’s radio equipment and engineering team, which delivered solid communications system in the history of the event.”

For the Helsinki Slush event, Riedel supplied 200 Hytera digital mobile radios, 75 headsets and a UHF (ultra-high frequency) repeater, alongside on-site support. Slush crew relied on the equipment to deliver the communications that facilitated work between producers and radio users.

From giving of cues for Slush’s signature lasers to organising the access control and recycling point instructions, the communication was “flawless” between team members, thus giving them greater confidence, said Riedel.

Marc Schneider, sales director global events at Riedel, concluded: “In just a few short years, Slush has grown to become the gathering for investors and startup founders alike, and this year’s event was no exception — drawing more than 2,600 startups, 1,500 venture capitalists, 600 journalists form more than 130 countries, and one million livestream viewers.
