Riedel launches wireless intercom Bolero with a 2.4ghz upgrade

The company expanded its product line after the Simplylive acquisition.

From its roots as a German company to an international one, Riedel Communications provided communication products helpful for broadcast, theaters, entertainment, production houses and many more.

It was first recognized for introducing digital audio matrix systems, along with SDI and IP-based media networks, when it was first founded in 1987.

The company designs, manufactures, and distributes innovative real-time networks for video, audio and communications, whilst its product line has been proven to best fit broadcast, pro-audio, event, sports, theater, and security applications worldwide.

In the recently concluded BroadcastAsia 2023 hosted by APB+, Guillamune Mauffrey, Sales Director for APAC shared Riedel’s current trajectory and upcoming goals.

Mauffrey shared the observation that many countries have begun shifting to wireless products.

“So for Asia Pacific, I don’t think it is a regional thing. However, some countries are now preferring to use wireless products. For example, one of our superstar products is the Bolero which is a wireless intercom,” he said.

It has recently launched Bolero, an upgrade from its previously released products.

During the production and planning for this product, it took into consideration the various regulations set in place globally.

As a result, the product will be offered in varying capacity options.

“We have launched the 2.4 gigahertz option. Before it was 1.9. There were countries who had that but were regulated in 2.4, such as [South] Korea, India, China,” he explained.

“That is why now, we are launching the product that is now available for purchase in these countries in both 2.4 gigahertz and 1.9 gigahertz depending on the regulation. Now the compatibility is complete,” he said.

Based on its official website, the Bolero wireless intercom is capable of supporting up to 250 beltpacks and 100 antennas in a single deployment. It has an Advanced DECT Receiver which allows for better RF robustness.

It comes with three network modes, specifically: the Bolero integrated, Bolero Standalone Link, and the Bolero Standalone 2110 (AES67)

As of the present, there are a number of products which the company hopes to introduce to the market.

In addition, they acquired the company Simplylive last year which helped them in obtaining an integration production suite. Its services have now expanded from audio to video.

“Right now, we have a couple of products that we’re introducing to the market. We also acquired a company named Simplylive last year, which is a remote production company that has products we already have been doing,” he said.

“These products include football, doing VAR, recording a slow motion, and super slow motion videos, videoing highlights, and etcetera. It is an all-in-one integration production suite that could be in the cloud or on-prem,” he said.

This allowed the company to not only just be in the audio sector, as it now has extended to the video sector. As a result, its product line has been growing every year.
