Ross Video wins Sports Broadcasting – Fiji category at Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025

The company earned the award for helping Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) transform live sports broadcasting in the Pacific.

Ross Video received the accolade at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025, which recognised the efficiency of its Ultix platform in assisting FBC.

Ross Video’s Ultrix platform, a compact and powerful solution, was a part of FBC’s success in upgrading its capabilities to deliver world-class coverage of Fijian Drua Super Rugby matches. The platform transformed how live sports are broadcast in a remote island setting.

FBC was faced with tight timelines, limited space, and complex logistics and had needed to deploy a cutting-edge broadcast system in just four months. This was something only a few thought was possible, but with Ross Video’s Ultrix, FBC was able to meet the challenge head-on. It proves that even small island broadcasters can deliver premium live coverage to global audiences.

Broadcasting from a remote island came with no shortage of hurdles—limited shipping capacity, space constraints, and a narrow deployment window that stretched through the holiday season.

To respond to these challenges, FBC turned to Ultrix, Ross Video’s hyperconverged platform that allowed them to drastically reduce setup time and complexity whilst maximising performance within a compact footprint. This resulted in a streamlined, professional-grade broadcast system that was operational in record time. This transformative project was led by Gencom Technology, Ross Video’s authorised business partner in New Zealand. Gencom played a key role in the successful implementation at FBC, managing the deployment under challenging timelines and ensuring the Ultrix platform was fully optimised for the local environment.

More than offering just hardware, Ross Video’s Ultrix platform delivered flexibility, speed, and reliability in a high-pressure environment. Its lightweight and modular design was crucial for FBC’s fast-paced rollout. Its built-in efficiencies helped as well in simplifying training and system integration for the local team.

Despite the tight schedule and seasonal delays, Ross Video’s support helped FBC hit its deadline, with the upgraded system enabling seamless live broadcasts of Fijian Drua matches. This project marks a turning point for broadcasting in the region. For FBC, it’s a leap forward in operational capability and a bold statement of what’s possible, even from a geographically remote location.

The project served as a valuable training ground for FBC’s technical team, where they enhanced their skills and set the stage for future large-scale productions.

FBC’s success story with Ross Video and Gencom Technology proves that innovation, collaboration, and the right technology can overcome even the toughest challenges.
