Ross Video’s Ultrix FR12 Frame was exhibited at BroadcastAsia Show 2023

Ross Video, a leading provider of broadcast solutions, showcased its latest innovation, the Ultrix FR12 frame, at this year’s BroadcastAsia 2023 event. The Ultrix FR12 frame offers a sleek design and an easy-to-configure display, attracting attention as one of the highlights of the exhibition.

The Ultrix FR12 frame boasts a unique feature that allows users to utilize a window on the display for configuration purposes, eliminating the need for additional peripherals such as a mouse and keyboard. Although some speculate about potential future capabilities like streaming services, the current focus lies in its impressive multi-view functionality.

Simon Roehrs, Director of Sales, APAC at Ross Video, explained the concept behind the Ultrix FR12 frame, emphasizing its consolidation capabilities. He stated, “The idea was here to consolidate everything into one tiny box, eliminating a lot of rack space.” Traditionally, broadcast facilities required separate boxes for various functions such as routing, audio mixing, sequence switching, and processing power. The Ultrix FR12 frame aims to change that by integrating all these features into a single compact unit.

Within the 12RU box, the Ultrix FR12 frame accommodates numerous cards, each with different input and output ports. This flexibility allows users to configure their setups according to their specific needs, whether it’s a 288 by 288 maximum router or other configurations. Furthermore, the frame supports additional capabilities like SDI to IP gateways, signal processing, frame sync, and clean switching, all of which are typically found in separate boxes. Users can even enhance these capabilities by connecting multiple Ultrix frames via the network.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are also key aspects of the Ultrix FR12 frame. Roehrs emphasized the importance of power consumption in cost-effective and environmentally friendly setups. He noted, “Power consumption plays a key role when it comes to cost-effective and environment-friendly setups.” The Ultrix FR12 frame consumes approximately 2,500 Watts, significantly less than traditional setups that can reach up to 52,300 Watts. Reducing power consumption not only lowers costs but also contributes to sustainability efforts. Additionally, the frame allows for a reduction in cable usage, further streamlining operations.

In summary, the Ultrix FR12 frame by Ross Video offers a compact solution that consolidates various broadcast features into a single box. With its multi-view functionality, flexibility in configuration, and energy-efficient design, the Ultrix FR12 frame presents an appealing option for broadcasters seeking to optimize their operations.

“We are proud to introduce the Ultrix FR12 frame at BroadcastAsia 2023,” said Simon Roehrs. “It brings together all the essential broadcast features in one tiny box, making it super capable and powerful.”

The Ultrix FR12 frame is set to revolutionize the broadcast industry by providing broadcasters with a space-saving and versatile solution that meets their evolving needs. Ross Video continues to drive innovation in the field, catering to the demands of broadcasters worldwide.
