Signiant gets significant investment to generate more SaaS solutions

Signiant has announced a major growth investment from Battery Ventures, a global technology-focused investment firm. This investment comes as Signiant’s technology becomes increasingly critical for media companies navigating the complexities of producing and distributing high-resolution content across diverse online streaming platforms.

Signiant’s solutions enable the rapid and secure transfer of large media files, including movies, TV shows, sports broadcasts, and news content. This is crucial in today’s media landscape, where content creation often involves geographically dispersed teams and vendors.

Signiant’s flagship products are utilised by major players across various sectors, including post production, professional sports, gaming, and broadcast as well as cable TV. Its customer roster boasts industry giants such as NBCU, Warner Bros Discovery, Ubisoft, and the National Hockey League, alongside numerous smaller companies within the global media ecosystem.

Margaret Craig, Chief Executive of Signiant, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Battery, a firm with a long history of scaling enterprise Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) businesses, to begin writing the next chapter of the Signiant story.

“Both the company and the media industry are at inflection points. We feel our solutions are uniquely suited to meet the current moment in media and entertainment, which demands the type of efficiency and fast time-to-value that only a modern multi-tenant SaaS platform can deliver.”

The investment will be strategically deployed to accelerate product development, expand go-to-market activities, and pursue potential acquisitions within the media technology space. Signiant has a history of strategic acquisitions to broaden its product portfolio and remains committed to this strategy.

Dave Tabors, Partner at Battery, added, “As the production of media content becomes more specialised and complex, owing to advancements in video and sound quality, and fancy visual effects, it means media files have gotten larger and more difficult to move around the track.

“In our view, Signiant has cracked the code on how to tackle this problem, building a robust SaaS business to facilitate the transfer of these files in a secure way.”
