Silver Trak Digital boasts of massive scale processing of legacy archives

The company works with top broadcasters across APAC in digitization archiving.

Now a trusted industry brand, Silver Trak Digital works with the biggest broadcasting companies across the APAC region. It provides for a wide range of services which includes versioning, compliance, media management, sales fulfillment, content aggregation.

With the fast turnover of content, especially in recent years, archiving has been a more needed service in the industry. Silver Trak Digital provides a solution which can complete projects within two to three years –a big jump from the former industry processing time of 10 to 15 years.

In an interview during the recently concluded BroadcastAsia 2023 hosted by APB+, Joe Kelly, Silver Trak Digital’s Co- Founder and General Manager said that they are providing industry-leading services in the market with the help of various processes such as AI.

“Everybody has some digitization capability for legacy archives, but we do it at a massive scale. We are able to digitize hundreds of 1000s of hours of legacy archives per year, or film archives per year, and have that content prepared, utilizing AI for enhancement of descriptive metadata and increased search ability,” he said.

The company prioritizes delivering projects within a manageable timeframe to combat industry standards. At the same time, it will provide for more archiving to be done in the long run.

“So, it’s really the scale at which we can do things and the speed at which we can do things. The problem with a lot of these projects is when we’re talking about archives of several 100,000 hours, [it takes about] 8,800 hours in a year,” he said.

“So how do you deliver these projects in a manageable timeframe? Nobody wants a project that’s kind of spread out over 10 years, 15 years, no organization, I can commit to that. We reduce those timelines to a realistic note, something that can be delivered within 2,3,4 years,” he added.

According to Kelly, the company works with multiple broadcasters across APAC, many of them having a large collection of content to be archived.

“Primarily, [we work with] broadcasters who have been in the region for some time, who have acquired a large collection of legacy content. So this includes incumbent broadcasters in markets like Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Indonesia, and across the Pacific,” he said.

He added that Silver Trak Digital also works with smaller production companies as well. However, the focus remains more on the broadcast segment rather than the consumer segment.

The company is set to expand its services more to provide better and more reliable solutions to broadcasters within APAC.

Hailing from Australia, the company is well-known as a tech company which can provide content owners and media companies with innovative logistics and services. It currently has offices in Malaysia, New Zealand, and multiple cities in Australia.

It takes pride in being a National Platinum Sponsor of the Australian Cinematographer’s Society and is the a Silver Sponsor of the Australian Screen Sound Guild.
