Singtel bags IP Transformation – Singapore accolade at Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025
Singtel was honoured at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025 for leading Southeast Asia’s first full-IP broadcast centre upgrade.
Singtel, supported by Magna Systems, completed a major transformation of its broadcast centre infrastructure, moving from traditional SDI-based systems to a fully IP-based broadcast platform. This marks the first end-to-end IP playout facility in Southeast Asia—a major milestone in regional broadcasting.
Singtel’s goal was to implement a future-ready, scalable, and smart broadcast system that could improve efficiency, reduce complexity, and be easily expanded as business demands grow. So it chose to leap forward with a comprehensive IP solution that eliminates the need to convert signals back to baseband for routing or monitoring. This fully IP-based infrastructure enables remote control, advanced monitoring, and seamless integration with existing systems, all whilst requiring minimal retraining for operations teams.
The combination of tools deployed allows Singtel to monitor video and audio and, most importantly, to track subtitles, detect signal delays, and confirm content accuracy across multiple signal paths.
Moreover, the new system successfully integrates Singtel’s three major operation centres, as well as existing playout and encoding systems. It also features full support for 4K, HDR, and remote operations, which is essential to optimising manpower resources and enabling 100% remote control and monitoring of the entire facility.
With this IP infrastructure, operators can monitor the entire broadcast chain from ingest to playout, detect mismatched content between headends and receive real-time alerts for signal anomalies.
The streamlined system also reduces the need for hardware and lowers the risk of single points of failure. This approach boosts operational reliability and contributes to lower power consumption and a reduced carbon footprint.
