Sonnet Technologies unveils Solo5G adapter for high-speed connectivity
Sonnet Technologies, a provider of Thunderbolt technology products and network, storage, and other interface cards for professionals in the audio, video, filmmaking, and broadcast industries, has launched the Solo5G USB-C to 5 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) Adapter.
This expands Sonnet’s lineup of high-performance network solutions with a cost-effective option for users seeking faster connectivity without overhauling existing infrastructure.
The Solo5G is a compact and durable device, featuring a sleek aluminum enclosure and measuring just 1.2-inch wide and 3.2-inch long. Designed for Mac, Windows, and Linux systems, it enables 5GbE, 2.5GbE, and traditional GbE network connections via standard Cat 5e cabling.
With a built-in 0.15m USB-C cable, the fanless adapter connects to USB-C or Thunderbolt (Type-C) ports and is bus-powered for maximum portability and energy efficiency. It also includes an RJ45 port with LRD indicators for link and activity status, offering a plug-and-play experience.
Powered by NBASE-T multi-GbE technology, the Solo5G delivers data transfer speeds up to five times faster than standard GbE. When connected to a 10GbE-capable switch, network-attached storage (NAS) device, or Wi-Fi router, the adapter can achieve higher throughput without requiring a network upgrade. In addition to 5GbE, the device supports 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps speeds to maintain compatibility with a range of network environments.
