Well known for its versatility, Sony’s FX6 full-frame 4K camera will join nine other Sony cameras on the Netflix Approved Camera List.

In its most compact form, the
camera can be mounted even on a one-handed gimbal such as the DJI RS2. This
enables videographers the flexibility to capture new angles in their production
with ease.

According to Sony, cameras
must meet minimum resolution and capture specifications, and “other attributes
like dynamic range, form factor, stability and workflow compatibility were also
taken into consideration”, in order for Netflix to approve their use.

Approved cameras are also tested
to ensure they meet Netflix’s technical and workflow requirements.

Jessica
Earnshaw, a documentary cinematographer, said: “During a recent shoot, I was
blown away by the FX6 and its ability to help achieve the intimacy of verité
shooting. I had no problem getting in there with the FX6 – the design, size,
and weight are really fantastic.”

With the
ability to capture 4K up to 120 fps in 10-bit 422, the FX6 proves to be the
go-to camera for lowlight and dynamic range cinematic shoots.

Additional Sony cameras on the Netflix
Approved Camera List include: Sony VENICE, Sony FX9, Sony Z750, Sony F55, Sony
F5, Sony F65, Sony FS7/FS7ii, Sony HDC-4300, and Sony Z450.
