Super Milo a superb high-speed rig for next-gen cinematography

MRMC has announced the launch of the Super Milo, which the company calls a “groundbreaking advancement” in the realm of visual effects and cinematography.
Building on the legacy of its Academy Award-winning Milo, renowned for its macro precision, the Super Milo, due to debut this July, boasts significant advancements in speed, acceleration, reach, and setup efficiency.
Specifically, the Super Milo boasts speeds of up to three metres per second on track and five metres per second with combined camera movement, due to its advanced brushless motors.
This results in speeds up to 100% faster and accelerations up to 400% quicker than the original Milo, MRMC claimed. Additionally, the rig can accommodate a camera payload of 35 kilograms.
The innovative geometry of the Super Milo ensures smooth, stable movements from below ground level to a maximum height of 6.1 metres. With easily attachable extensions, it offers versatile shooting configurations.
Electronic lifting actuators speed up track setup, making the Super Milo an ideal choice for high-precision, high-speed rig operations across various filming scenarios, including macro, tabletop, computer-generated imagery (CGI) work, and now high-speed live-action shooting.
Assaff Rawner, CEO of MRMC, said, “The success of the Milo paved the way for other motion control systems, but it remains a benchmark in the industry due to its unparalleled stability, reliability, and quality of results. It was once seemingly impossible to conceive that there could be an improved version of this rig.
“The Super Milo will continue to provide an example of MRMC’s commitment to excellence in cinematography and demonstrates our latest advancements in macro and high-speed robotic camera technology.”
