Attendees at the IBC Show 2023 witnessed the unveiling of TSL Products’ latest innovations, in a conversation led by Rob Adams, the company’s Worldwide Sales Director.
When asked about TSL Products’ experience at this year’s event, Adams was enthusiastic: “Actually, it’s really exceeded expectations. We put a lot of time and investment into planning the show. It’s been an amazing last few days, but exceeded our expectations.”
This is particularly noteworthy considering the major announcements from the company, especially pertinent for the APAC region. “There are several major announcements,” Adams said. “What we want to do as a business is to remind people of what we do. And we have a theme of knocking the socks off – surprising people. I think there’s a perception that people know what TSL does. And we’re really welcoming people on and showing them new things.”
One of the most crucial concerns for businesses today is the phasing out of legacy products by traditional hardware vendors. Adams addressed this pressing issue: “As traditional hardware vendors are dropping their legacy products, our customers need to retain them. They may want to replace some of the modules; they may want a new multiviewer or switch. Often, their hardware vendor doesn’t want to support that change. And so, we are there to come in and enable that as anything-to-anything post cold translation, and those kinds of things.”
In a nod to the current technological shift, Adams also announced two significant developments. First, the introduction of an “IP-based rich control solution,” and second, an exciting collaboration with Grass Valley. As he explained, “We’re collaborating with Grass Valley as an alliance partner on their booth. We’re doing two things with them. One we have on their AMPP platform as a virtualized router and telecontrol solution, completely virtualized. And secondly, they’ve taken on our Tally solution, and they’re calling it the GVO-Tally. So you can go and buy either on-prem or cloud-based productions from Grass Valley, powered by TSL.”
The conversation then shifted to Tom Pollard, who introduced “X-Connect”, TSL Products’ solution to IP reach control. “X-Connect is our foray into IP reach control,” Pollard began. “It acts as a gateway layer between the NMOS endpoints and a route control system. It’s crucial in finding the story between moving from baseband to IP, and how we can help that transition by making a gradual transition instead of a complete new system.”
Pollard further detailed the workings of the X-Connect product. “The X-Connect product itself is a virtual machine. It runs in the cloud, it can run on-prem, off-prem, or it can run as an appliance and vice versa. Here, we have our NMOS registry, which we’re hosting within our system. All the flows available to us are displayed on screen. What we do with that is we create a virtual router that we can completely define based on those flows. And then that router is made available to a northbound control system for a traditional SDI approach.”
As the tech world continues to evolve, the innovative strides taken by companies like TSL Products underscore the importance of adapting and growing with the changing times. The IBC Show 2023 served as an excellent platform for such announcements, showcasing the future of the industry.
