Subscribers of net+ can enjoy a mix of VoD and live content across mobile devices and via their desktops

net+, a Swiss multimedia content provider, has launched its new multi-screen service powered by Viaccess-Orca’s VO Player.

Equipped with digital rights management (DRM) support for video-on-demand (VoD) and live content, VO Player enables net+ to deliver a unified viewer experience across Android and iOS devices, as well as on PCs and Macs via Web browsers. VO Player is also compliant with the DVB-Sub subtitle format, allowing net+ to reuse subtitle tracks of existing video content and legacy stream generation systems.

Romain Lonfat, head of TV at netplus.ch, said: “Competition amongst over-the-top (OTT) providers is intense. To monetise our multi-screen offering, we needed a secure video player that allows us to deliver popular programming, including advanced capabilities such as time-shift TV and graphical subtitles, with a short time to market.

“VO Player, combined with support from Viaccess-Orca’s DevOps organisation, perfectly suits our requirement for a high-quality video player with a responsive technology service team.”

Integrated with Verimatrix’s ViewRight Web, VO Player offers additional protection such as screen casting and recording securities, thus allowing net+ to meet security requirements from content owners while focusing on content discovery and delivery.

Benoit Brieussel, vice-president sales player at Viaccess-Orca, concluded: “The OTT multi-screen environment is always changing, and it’s important that operators differentiate the user experience and ensure a fast time to market for their services. VO’s secure video player is flexible, secure and high-performing, allowing net+ to deliver compelling experiences on all connected devices from a single platform.”
