CATV, a cable operator in Japan, will deploy Ciena technology to transform its
fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure and deliver high-quality digital services
across rural areas.
Ciena’s
6500 Coherent Packet-Optical Platform, powered by WaveLogic Ai, will enable
MCTV to expand its backhaul capacity from 100G to 400G and scale its network to
support new user demands.
“Our
vision is to contribute to the local community by delivering superior telecom
and broadcast services and ensuring our customers in rural areas have access to
exceptional connectivity,” said Toshiyuki Shiota, Deputy Director of Technology Department,
MCTV.
“Ciena’s
WaveLogic coherent optical solutions will allow us to further satisfy the digital
needs of our growing customer base and promote a more connected society.”
Enhancing
MCTV’s broadcasting services requires a programmable network at the lowest cost
per bit. WaveLogic Ai will help MCTV determine the optimal capacity for any
path across the network and tune to different capacity levels to deliver new
levels of service.
Ciena’s
WaveLogic Ai can also be scaled as MCTV’s end-user demands evolve, without
requiring hardware changes to the network. ICT Infrastructure service partner UNIADEX
will provide configuration, construction, and support services for the
deployment.
“With
Ciena, MCTV will gain control of its network to adapt to new performance
benchmarks and dynamic service requirements,” said Kazuyasu Takahashi, Vice
President and General Manager of Ciena Japan. “MCTV’s selection of Ciena
reinforces the shift cable operators are making to upgrade their networks in
today’s digital-first environment.”
