Vietnamese over-the-top (OTT) platform MyTV has taken its first step towards migrating all its IPTV and over-the-top (OTT) services to a private cloud, by virtualising its headend with the support of Ateme.

To enable the virtualised headend, MyTV employed Ateme’s  cloud-based Titan software suite, composed of multi-screen linear encoders and multi-plexers with scrambling capabilities. This, said MyTV, will create an enhanced workflow that will allow them to reach more than 2.5 million subscribers.

Nguyen Hong Phong, Director of Television Centre at MyTV, said, “Thanks to the cloud-based solutions offered by Ateme, along with the team’s support and flexibility, we were able to start moving our OTT platform to a private cloud, which will allow us to deliver more content to more devices in a more affordable way.”

The virtualised headend delivered by Ateme includes future-proof technologies such as the CMAF (Common Media Application Format) standard to enable low latency, SDI over IP and dynamic ad insertion capabilities for better monetisation with targeted advertising. These technologies create a flexible headend that can be expanded easily, and runs on a private cloud powered by containerised software orchestrated by Kubernetes.

Nguyen Duc Long, Sales Director at Ateme, said, “To meet the challenges of an expanding subscriber base, it’s important to have a robust and scalable platform. Moving to the cloud ensures this while also reducing capital expenditure. “We are thrilled to have been able to accompany MyTV in this first step of its migration to the cloud, helping it deliver captivating video experiences with a headend that is 100% cloud-based.”
