Bitmovin taps on the demand for multi-device streaming with Playback

It also launched Stream Lab which can help better monitor streams on separate devices.

Multimedia tech company Bitmovin is ready to launch a revolutionary service to its users globally, adding to its current gamut of services which includes VOD encoding, live encoding, and streaming.

Since Bitmovin launched in 2012, it has been committed to creating video development solutions to help both developers and customers get the most out of new and popular tech.

In a side interview with Bitmovin’s Product Manager Jacob Arends during the recently concluded BroadcastAsia 2023 of APB+, he said that Playback is one of its highlighted products which is particularly resilient for use across different devices.

Playback helped in improving performance in devices which are still difficult to use, such as Smart TVs.

“[Playback makes] sure that we can help with performance and [use our expert] experience particularly in difficult devices like smart TVs where advertising, for example, has trade off performance which may be prevalent in broad devices,” Arends said.

Another product that is taking center stage is its Stream Lab. Like the other products of Bitmovin, Stream Lab makes sure that testing, managing, and supporting playback on multiple devices is now more possible.

It enables doing away with needing extensive video know-how or having a big team that supervises the control over testing scenarios.

Being fully automated, it guarantees providing audiences with the best experience in streaming.

The company has a wide array of products needed in today’s digital space. First there is Playback which is best used to deploy, test, and optimize video playback. Then there is Video Encoding which is listed as having the highest QoE on the market at 100x realtime.

“We have an award-winning VOD encoding integrated with some industry leading technologies such as Smart Chunking, which we exhibited earlier this year,” Arends said.

It also has Live Encoding which assists users in delivering seamless, high-quality live streaming. As with Streams, it was launched to simplify video workflows.

“We also have a Live Encoder, which is a key point. Particularly, what we’re pushing for here is NAB,” he added.

Used together, all these products create a digital environment built to help users navigate through the many apps and streaming platforms available and popularized nowadays.

According to the company’s official website, users can use the Bitmovin Player to have access to better video playback. It is an easy-to-deploy video player which allows developers to have control over the viewing experience of the users.

More than that, it takes pride in being able to solve complicated streaming workflows that includes Ads, third-party integrations, and DRM –all without losing crisp quality and performance.

Apart from this, Bitmovin also offers various supporting services. Whilst most of its programs were geared for launching in the Asia Pacific region, the company continues to prioritize quality in its other offerings.

It is geared to introduce more products in the future as it develops more digital solutions in streaming and video playback.
