LiveU’s Return to IBC Show 2023: A Glimpse of Pre-Pandemic Times

IBC Show 2023 at Amsterdam witnessed the exhilarating comeback of many industry leaders. Among them was LiveU, a front-runner in the world of live broadcasting. Ronen Artman, Vice-President of Marketing for LiveU, described the event as reminiscent of the times “before 2019”.

“It’s great to be back,” Artman commented during an interview with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+. “A day before the end of the show, it feels like we’re almost back to where we were pre-pandemic. It’s wonderful seeing everyone back, and the enthusiasm of being at an exhibition again is palpable.”

This year, LiveU took the opportunity to showcase several of its new products. Artman highlighted three main areas of focus for the company. First up, was the introduction of the LiveU EcoSystem, covering everything from contribution to distribution. “The intriguing part this time is the openness of the EcoSystem,” he shared. “For each step of the flow, we are showcasing our integration with industry leaders, be it on the LRCs, the ingest part, the graphic and production aspect, or even the distribution phase.”

Another pivotal introduction by LiveU is their venture into 5G technology. Artman spoke with pride about their private 5G setup at the IBC Show. “5G is here, and it’s going to revolutionise the way we operate, turning the tide in our favour.” Their dedicated efforts in this field have not gone unnoticed; LiveU, in collaboration with the BBC, has been nominated for the IBC innovation award for their coverage leveraging 5G.

Last but certainly not least, LiveU revealed the ST2110, their latest SMPTE 2110 rackmount. This product, Artman explained, marks a slight departure from their usual offerings. Rather than leading the charge on its development, LiveU has crafted it as a tool to aid broadcasters. “It’s designed to support broadcasters transitioning from SDI into IP. We’re here to ensure their transition process is equipped to accommodate a LiveU unit,” Artman elaborated. Their dedication to this product paid off as it clinched the IBC Best of Show award.

Wrapping up the interview, Artman expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for the support and reception LiveU has received during the event. “These are the three main areas we are concentrating on at this show,” he concluded.

For business professionals and broadcasters globally, the reintroduction of such industry giants at live events such as IBC Show 2023 not only marks a return to pre-pandemic normalcy but also shines a spotlight on the exciting advancements the world can anticipate in the realms of broadcasting and live coverage.
