MultiDyne bridges SDI—IP with new openGear MDoG Series

MultiDyne Video & Fibre Optic Systems will showcase its latest solutions for bridging the gap between legacy SDI and modern IP workflows at the NAB 2024.

The new MDoG Series of openGear solutions features SMPTE ST 2110 network interface and low-latency JPEG-XS codec modules, designed to streamline the management of uncompressed and compressed signals across various broadcast environments.

The MDoG Series marks MultiDyne’s entry into IP gateway solutions for uncompressed ST 2110 networks. The MDoG-6060 modules provide an SDI-to-IP network interface with enhanced bandwidth, allowing broadcasters to optimise throughput for uncompressed 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) and HD video transport. These modules come in multiple I/O configurations to support both 3G-SDI and 12G-SDI systems, and feature dual 25Gb network interfaces for redundant transport streams with hitless merge functionality via SMPTE ST 2022-7 compliance.

Frank Jachetta, CEO of MultiDyne, said, “One of our core strengths is helping our customers to manage the throughput of video, audio and data signals in almost any scenario imaginable inside studios, onboard trucks and out in the field, and packaging high signal densities for reliable transport.

“Our latest openGear solutions are ideal for broadcasters in need of transitional tools that allow them to use their traditional gear in modernised media facilities.”

Addressing the needs of facilities with a mix of SDI and IP infrastructure, Jesse Foster, Vice-President of Products & Western Sales at MultiDyne, highlighted the value proposition of the MDoG-6060 modules. “These facilities have made large capital investments in cameras, routers, graphics and other technologies that haven’t yet been fully realised, and they need gateways such as the MDoG-6060 to bring signals from these components into a ST 2110 network.”

For workflows where uncompressed transport might not be feasible, MultiDyne’s MDoG-6061 JPEG-XS codec modules offer a solution for high-density signal transport. These modules support low-latency compression or decompression of up to two channels of 12G-SDI with redundant functionalities over dual 10GB network interfaces.
MultiDyne will debut the series at booth C7107 during  the NAB Show, which will be held from April 13-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
