Appear recognised at Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025

The company, a global leader in live production technology, earned recognition for bringing centralised Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to Thai soccer in partnership with I-Sport.

Appear won the Sports Broadcasting – Thailand accolade at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2025, highlighting its effort in advancing how soccer games are officiated in Thailand.

I-Sport, a major name in Thai sports broadcasting, teamed up with Appear to launch a new centralised VAR system for Thai Major League and League 2 soccer. This new setup sends high-quality, real-time video from stadiums across the country to a central Video Operations Room (VOR), which enables referees to make faster and more accurate decisions.

Appear’s technology delivers video with very low delay, so referees can review key moments almost instantly. With 551 matches a year, this system also brings footage from all stadiums to one central location.

Furthermore, Appear’s portable setup can be easily moved and used in different stadiums when needed.

Centralising VAR also helps to reduce the need for expensive on-site setups whilst improving accuracy and consistency in decisions.

According to Supavas Prohmvitak, General Manager at I-Sport, “Appear’s platform delivers exceptional reliability for centralised VAR, ensuring precise alignment of camera and video feeds, crucial for maintaining game integrity.”

Notably, this is the first time such a centralised VAR system has been used in Thai soccer, putting Thailand at the forefront of sports broadcasting innovation in the region. I-Sport and Appear are leading the way in making the game fairer and more exciting for fans and players alike.
