India showcases cloud-driven innovation at World Para Athletics Championships

The World Para Athletics Championships, India’s largest para-sports event, unfolded in New Delhi from 27 September to 5 October 2025, drawing more than 1,100 athletes from over 100 countries to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. It marked the first time the global championship was staged in South Asia, presenting an opportunity not only for para-sports but also for India’s broadcast technology sector.
With Prasar Bharati producing the event’s official coverage, the scale and diversity of distribution requirements quickly became a significant technical challenge. Broadcasters across Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Africa requested feeds in highly varied formats and protocols, ranging from differing resolutions and frame rates to specific transmission standards. Traditional satellite and fibre-heavy workflows would have struggled to support the event’s complexity and volume.
To meet these demands, organisers turned to TVU Networks’ cloud-native live production and global distribution architecture. The workflow combined TVU One live backpacks for on-ground acquisition with the TVU MediaHub platform for multi-format processing and international delivery.
On-site, the portable TVU One units allowed camera crews to move rapidly across competition venues without the limitations of fixed cabling. Each device leverages TVU’s IS+ technology, capable of bonding multiple connections — 5G/4G, WiFi and Ethernet — to maintain transmission even under fluctuating signal conditions.
Once captured, the master signal was routed to TVU MediaHub in the cloud, where the platform automatically generated output variations tailored to each broadcaster’s requirements. From SRT to RTMP and beyond, format and protocol conversions were completed in milliseconds, with end-to-end latency kept below three seconds.
“This was a landmark event for Indian broadcasting, and the technical demands were unprecedented,” said a sports official from Prasar Bharati. “TVU’s solution allowed us to deliver world-class coverage to international broadcasters with complete confidence.
“The system’s reliability throughout nine days of continuous operation exceeded our expectations.”
Subodh Aggarwal, TVU’s South Asia General Manager, added that the event demonstrated the maturity of cloud-driven broadcast workflows. “The World Para Athletics Championships demonstrated the transformative power of IP and cloud-based broadcasting at the highest level.
“Our technology enabled a lightweight, distributed production model that would have been impossible with traditional infrastructure.”
