SipRadius will introduce the SipMX Alliance at the upcoming NAB 2026, as part of a broader push to accelerate interoperability and simplify media orchestration across broadcast and professional AV environments.
Set to be showcased at booth W2316, the SipMX is a platform designed to unify control and transport across multiple media protocols. Built on open standards including NMOS, RIST and IPMX, it aims to bridge fragmented workflows and enable uninterrupted integration across diverse systems.
The platform allows facilities operating on technologies such as SMPTE ST2110, IPMX, NDI and Dante/AES67 to be discovered, routed, and managed through a single controller. By consolidating these capabilities, SipMX removes long-standing operational silos between systems that often share the same IP infrastructure but lack unified orchestration.
Developed under the leadership of Sergio Ammirata, Chief Scientist at SipRadius, and creator of the widely used librist library, the initiative is now expanding through the formation of the SipMX Alliance. The alliance invites device manufacturers, software vendors, system integrators and cloud providers to collaborate on shaping specifications and driving adoption. Membership will be free, with the aim of encouraging broad industry participation.
Ammirata noted that while traditional standards bodies have played a critical role in ensuring interoperability, the shift to software-defined environments requires a more agile and collaborative approach. He added that SipMX brings together established standards into deployable solutions that are ready for immediate use, while remaining adaptable for future development.
The platform is designed to address the growing complexity of modern production environments, integrating functions such as NMOS-based discovery, crosspoint routing, receiver monitoring and enterprise-grade security. While such capabilities have typically been limited to large broadcasters with significant engineering resources, SipMX seeks to make them accessible to a wider range of users.
It also supports routing across complex network environments, including firewalls, cellular connections and hybrid cloud architectures, while enabling protocol bridging between legacy and modern systems. Built-in security features include zero-trust device onboarding, public key authentication and a certificate authority.
